Summer Academic Resources

July 1, 2010, 10:33 PM PDT, by Andrew Waite

Students should use Study Island over the summer to master all of the standards in both English Language Arts and Mathematics for the grade level they have just completed, not the grade level they are going into.  Go for 100%!

There will be new Graphic Novels that students may access this summer!

computer.pngInternet Resources:

  • Starfall.com should be used by kinder - 3rd grade. This program is great for phonics and reading.
  • Funbrain is a great website for math, spelling, and grammar games
  • PBSKids.org  Educational games and activities
  • Learn 4 Good!  Math games and puzzles; science games and activities; reading and languages.
  • ColorInColorado.org Bilingual site for parents and students offering ideas for books to read, games and activities for the entire family
  • TenMarks.com is the only online math program that helps students refresh, learn, and master math concepts - in their own time, at their own pace. Each child receives a personalized curriculum to help them master the concepts quickly.  This program costs $39.99 for the summer.

Spanish Site Now Available

April 12, 2010, 7:34 AM PDT, by Andrew Waite

One of our goals from the beginning for this website was to provide spanish translations for all content to meet the needs of our diverse community.  We're happy to say this goal has been met. To access the spanish version of the site simply click on the Español link at the top right corner of any page.  You can easily switch back the same way.

We couldn't do it without the help of our translation volunteers, thank you Adriana Gil.  As the site grows the more help we can get the better.  If you're interested in helping support the site with translating new content for the website send an email to webmaster@lvelementary.org.

2010 Tour of Novato

April 11, 2010, 12:00 PM PDT, by Andrew Waite

The Tour of Novato is a one-day bicycling event held annually to raise money for Novato schools. This year's Tour of Novato is Saturday, May 1, at San Marin High School. The Tour of Novato is the largest annual fundraising event for the Novato Unified School District. The event raises money through riders who collect sponsorship pledges.

In the event's first two years 230 riders raised over $140,000 for Novato schools. If you sign up to ride, the money you raise goes directly to the school (or schools) of your choice. If you sponsor a rider, you are supporting the school of your rider's choice. Either way, you're doing a great thing for our kids.

If you'd like to sign up to ride click here.

If you'd like to sponsor a rider to benefit Loma Verde click here.

April 11, 2010, 11:24 AM PDT, by Andrew Waite

Greetings Loma Verde Elementary community and welcome to our new website!

We're busy creating and organizing content and will make it available as quickly as we can. For now we wanted to at least get a minimal site up to announce the Tour of Novato event and provide you with a means to subscribe to site updates. Email subscription includes updates to the both the site and the newsletter. If you are already subscribed to the newsletter and want site updates via email you need to subscribe here, we aren't auto-signing up everyone. You may also leverage an RSS reader to subscribe to the news items if you prefer.

As the webmasters, Evan McKay and I are looking forward to delivering the information and services necessary to create an online presence that is worthy of our school. If you have ideas or suggestions, send an email to  webmaster@lvelementary.org
